The German term "ausbildung" refers to what is commonly known as an apprenticeship in English. This program involves attending classes at an institute as well as working and receiving training at a German company. It typically takes three years to complete.

Those who have completed additional studies, such as a diploma or a bachelor’s degree, after their plus-two are also eligible to apply. While there is no official maximum age limit for enrolling, institutions usually prefer students under 30 years of age.

To apply, students must have a well-written CV, a statement of purpose, work experience letters (if available), and educational certificates. As part of the admission process, employers will usually conduct interviews with the applicants to ascertain their German language skills among many other things.
